Amway Commits $33 Million to Bring Pro Soccer Stadium to Downtown Grand Rapids

Amway is leading a game-changing move for Grand Rapids, pledging a lead gift of $33 million toward the design and construction of a professional soccer stadium downtown.

With this contribution, the local and global leader secures naming rights for the future Amway Stadium, an 8,500-seat venue set to be a vibrant community hub and home for professional soccer and emerging talent in West Michigan.

We are a people business, and sports bring people together. It’s often a source of community and connection—offering shared experiences and points of pride. Those ideas are part of Amway and the thousands of communities around the world that Amway Business Owners create.
— Michael Nelson, Amway CEO

The Amway Stadium will be more than a soccer field—it will host professional matches, youth, high school, and collegiate teams, and draw an estimated 160,000 visitors each season. This venue furthers the city's West Side revitalization, more directly connecting it to downtown Grand Rapids and the burgeoning riverfront.

Amway being connected to the new stadium and professional soccer in the region feels like a natural extension of our values and our grandparent’s love and commitment to our local community. Amway has always been about bringing people together, creating opportunities, and making a positive impact, and I believe this stadium has a chance to do just that.

Located at 230 Winter Ave NW, just west of the Grand River, the stadium hopes to act as a connector for the bustling downtown with not only the emerging West Side, but neighborhood across the region.

"This stadium is about building a stronger, more vibrant community," shared Grand Rapids Mayor Rosalynn Bliss.

"It will bring jobs, more active neighborhoods, and opportunities for local businesses. It will be a source of pride and a place where we come together as fans, neighbors, and a city,” said Kyle Van Andel — grandson of Amway co-founder Jay Van Andel.

Amway has been a significant part of my life, but beyond that, the importance of this stadium lies in its support and impact on the community. Having Amway as the stadium sponsor continues to show strength in fostering community success. It bridges various communities, cultures, and people to come together under one roof with one cause, which is the intention of the stadium in Grand Rapids.

With public funding secured, the project aims to break ground in spring 2025, with Amway Stadium planning to open in spring 2027.

With the formalization of a professional franchise that will call the stadium home and confirmation of the league the team will play in, there is still more to be revealed in the months and years ahead—including the team name, logo, and even the mascot.
